Brief Summary
Jesus continues to push against a false understanding of the Sabbath which forbids good works for neighbor. He encourages humility and almsgiving among His disciples. He preaches the Parable of the Eschatological Banquet, taking aim at the Jews who were invited, yet rejected the invitation. Jesus tells His followers to reckon the cost of discipleship. Being a Christian is not a ticket to riches or comfort, in fact it will likely lead to loss of wealth, family, and life. Jesus heads to Jerusalem to die & rise. He calls us likewise to death & resurrection (→Rom 6).
